Reflection on Artistic Representation

Haihui Yang’s personal reflection on artistic Representation

This Chinese ink painting is called “Shrimp”. It’s by one of the greatest artists in China, Qi Baishi. This work was created in 1950 when he was 83 years old.  I like this ink painting not only it’s a high value of collection, but also it is Chinese traditional art work.  Master Qi had a great talent in ink printing.  He started to paint shrimp when he was 78 years old, but this work shows his highly skill in printing. Every details of the printing, the actions of shrimp in the water, that all make these shrimps looks like alive on the paper. Collectors comment on his shrimp painting as using a camera and taking a snap shot. The painting features all come from his great observation in his daily life and observe how shrimp live under the water. You might think this is a very easy painting. But in contrast the easier ink painting the more skills it required.  Master Qi has been practiced in shrimp painting for almost 20 years. Now a shrimp painting from master Qi could worth hundreds thousand dollars. His art works become popular collections by Chinese collectors even world wide.

Podcast 3 Robocob

Robocop
Hi, gays. Today I am going to talk about a new movie “Robocop”, which was on theater last week. In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Overseas, their drones have been used by the military for years - and it's meant billions for OmniCorp's bottom line. Now OmniCorp wants to bring their controversial technology to the home front, and they see a golden opportunity to do it. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) - a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit - is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp sees their chance for a part-man, part-robot police officer.
Robocop is a reboot of a perfectly good 80s movie and it’s really good one!  It recalls my memory when I saw it in childhood and play the Robocop video game. I expected a mindless Micheal Bayian action movie and what I got was a really smart, interesting and entertaining look at trans-humanism, the freedom of choice, politics and recklessness in corporate leaders. This movie really dives into the question of how a person could live his day to day live with almost all of his body amputated and stuck inside of a machine. So when people complain about the uncomfortable scenes between Murphy and his wife, I can only imagine they mean what happened after his transformation, and that felt exactly the way it was supposed to!
Some people may say they don’t really like it. There was too much love story I was excepting a bad ass movie where robocop is like the terminator and does a lot of kick ass stuff. I'm not gonna care what anyone says. I really really like the remake. At first I thought he was jus gonna be going around saving the day then the end , but no they made it so much better coz I saw the emotional struggle he had to overcome. Oh and having blood and gore doesn't make a movie better, I respect the original film but hey this one was clean, had a sizable chunk of action and a touch of human morale to it. I'm gonna watch it again!
So, guys if you like to recall your memory in your 80s, go and check this movie, I think it’s worth for you to hangout for this movie. Thank you for listening. Will see you next time.

Podcast 2, Heroes Reborn is coming back at NBC

OK, Ladies and Gentlemen, today I am going to talk about one of my favorite TV show, the brand new “Heroes Reborn”. It will return to the network in 2015 as an event miniseries with original creator and executive producer Tim Kring at the helm, it was announced by NBC Entertainment.
The iconic sci-fi series, which ran on NBC from 2006-10 and was an immediate hit, ranked as television's #1 new drama with an average audience of 14.5 million viewers during its initial season. The show was Golden Globe-nominated in its first year of eligibility for best drama series; it won the BAFTA Award for best international series, the AFI Award, the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films Saturn Award, two People's Choice Awards and the Television Critics Association Award for Program of the Year.
For the previous seasons, the story is about a group of man have super powers. It’s kind of like Marvel’s X-Man. I like both of these series. Season 1 of Heroes will forever be one of the greatest seasons of any show I've ever seen. Season 2 was such garbage I stopped watching after about 5 episodes. I remember Mohinder became like a human fly and Hiro was back in feudal Japan. i actually think the ending was perfect. Claire began the show with "This is Claire Bennet and this is attempt#" in private and ended the show with the same phrase but for all the world to see. I thought it was a nice bookend to the show. Much the same way LOST started with Jack opening his eye and then ended with him closing the eye.

I am glad to hear the heroes are coming back. If you a fan of heroes, or you excited about this, you can follow my podcast. Thank you for listening. Will see you next time.

My favorite kinds of Art

Art may be subjective to a lot of people, but I typically find the classics to be very satisfying to look at. I'm only going to mention paintings here, such as Gothic, Renaissance, Romanticism and Impressionism of Western European origin. One of my favorite hobbies was visiting art museums, and learning about the finest paintings, and artists.
My favorite work of art is Botticelli's "The Birth of Venus." I saw it for the first time at the Gallery book, and I was just overwhelmed by it. It's hard to say why this painting had this effect on me. The faces and bodies of the figures are not especially beautiful in a modern-day sense. I think it has to do with the gracefulness of the figures and the vulnerability of Venus herself, combined with the sheer size of the painting that made a huge impression on me. I also suspect that the intention of the artist comes across to me: Botticelli seemed to want to create something of beauty. I think he succeeded.
